AWAKE

AWAKE is the Sunday morning children's program at St. Stephen's for ages 4 to 11.

 

From September through May, we meet during the 10:30 service. The children gather in the church for the opening hymn and a prayer, then head upstairs for the AWAKE adventure. 


     Growing in the faith...  Interlaced with biblical topics and study, we will be learning about ecology and faith, peace, ritual, prayers, diversity, 'what did Jesus do', and the basics of the Episcopal Church.


Every Sunday, we have fun through play, song and hands-on activities.  All this takes places in an environment that honors the questions that the children bring and integrates their growing faith with the progressive Christian theology of St. Stephen's.  

 

Jeff Watters is the coordinator for AWAKE.

 

Program leaders are background checked. 

We have one adult per five children and two adults always present.

Our annual Trade-In Bake Sale

organized by our children to help the needy.

 

For five Sundays -- Feb 26 and March 4, 11, 18, 25 -- AWAKE students will give tickets to those who bring in non-food items.   Tickets can be redeemed after church for a tasty treat.  AWAKE students will give all of the items they collect to Neighborhood Services for distribution.
